Compression Bra Program
The Central Northeast Health Foundation and Verge of Wellness established the Compression Bra Program in August 2022. This program was set up to provide a free compression bra to patients who have to undergo a lumpectomy or mastectomy procedure within our region.
Also, there was a need identified within the health care system that these clients were not aware that post-mastectomy fittings and products were available in their area.
By setting up this program, it allowed us to provide a connection and education to mastectomy clients prior to their surgery so that they now know that post-mastectomy services and products are available to them for post-operative needs when they are ready.
How it works:
The clients receive the promotional card displayed in the photo above, usually at the time of their appointment with the surgeon when their surgery is being booked.
The client will then bring this card to Verge of Wellness @ 31 Dickins Street, where a professional Amoena certified fitter will measure and provide the patient with their FREE compression bra (chosen by their surgeon) to bring with them on the day of their surgery.
Verge of Wellness can also provide each mastectomy client with a free Amoena temporary breast form or “puff” for post-op until they can be fitted for a more suitable and long-term prosthesis (usually around 6-8 weeks post-op).
Amoena Surgical Bras are prewashed and packaged - ready for clinical use immediately post-op. The sensitive post-surgery period is when women shouldn't have to compromise on comfort and convenience.
These unique compression bras reduce post-op swelling and pain and provide medical-grade compression to the surgical area.
